Welcome to Janet's Apple Cakes and Crafts. My business started back in 1968 when I began baking for the Old York Road Women's Exchange in Jenkintown Pa. My goal was to add extra income to our family's budget and still have the opportunity to stay home and raise our children. We have been blessed with four terrific children. Included in my goal was taking trips to McDonald's and visits to Furlow's 5 & 10 cent store for special treats. At that time it was Matchbox Cars for our first born son!
My Apple Cake is made from a time proven recipe given to me by my girlfriend's mom, affectionately known to my children as "Grunny." "Grunny" is an incredible woman who can do anything and shares her love with everyone. If you knew her you would love her too! And thus my story goes………I still mix by hand and use only the finest ingredients. My apple cakes are available year 'round and are only a phone call away.
The Craft part of my business started in 1988 when we opened our home to showcase and sell local crafters' treasures. Today we have THREE shows a year, one in the Spring in March/ April, a NEW show in the Fall in Sept./Oct. and our Holiday Show the first Wed. Thurs., Fri. & Sat. of November. For the Spring and Holiday shows, we empty three floors of our country home and then fill our home with displays of lovely crafts from over 50 local crafters. Our NEW FALL show is being held at the Old Abington School House Circa 1880. There are gifts for everyone and for any occasion! You name it - we've got it.
